FBI Internet Scam/Fraud Center Online 06/25/05 Foreign scam warnings are posted on SoutheastTexas.com prior to anyone being allowed to post an ad. These scams involving fake cashier's checks and money orders are not new. Both the FBI - Beaumont and Secret Service - Houston are very aware of these scams. If you receive an email offering to pay you more than your asking price, the payment is by cashier's check or money order and you are asked to send the overage amount to a shipping or collection agent, this IS a scam. You are advised to ignore and delete such emails. The only way we'll beat them is by ignoring them. Most of these originate out of Nigeria, regardless of what country the con artist claims to call home. The problem is, the Nigerian government will not cooperate with the U.S. government. Our highest priorities are your success and your safety. For more information on Internet scams and fraud, please visit www.ifccfbi.gov

There has been major news reporting upon people or government agencies who failed to follow proper protocols which then made the stealing of identity data possible. SoutheastTexas.com has been diligent in following all protocols. Ultimately, you need to help protect yourself against identity theft by being selective in who you give personal information to. You can't just trust anyone who emails you "requiring" information because they may not be who they claim to be. Checking your credit periodically, at least yearly, can help to identify if someone has opened accounts or credit cards in your name. Please refer to this link for helpful information on Identity Theft: http://www.usa.gov/topics/money/identity-theft/prevention.shtml
You must first create an employer profile. Just log into SoutheastTexas.com. From your My Account Homepage, scroll down to Job Seek and click "Create Profile". Your employer profile will first need to be approved before you are allowed to post Job Seek ads. If you do not currently have a paid ad plan, it will be necessary to purchase one to post ads within Job Seek. You can customize this plan to your needs in terms of number of ads you need and/or the number of months you need to run your ad(s).
As an employer, you are allowed to post a job to the Jobseek section only after we have verified your account details. This helps to prevent fraudulent job postings and keeps our site as user-friendly as possible.
Only members who are employers and who have been successfully verified as a bonafide employer may search resumes. Once your Employer status has been successfully verified, AND you submit atleast one PAID job ad, you may search resumes posted in Jobseek.
You may have only one resume searchable by employers at any one time. Click on the Searchable / Not Searchable link to set your resume to either be searchable or not searchable by employers.
To copy and paste your resume, it must currently exist within a Microsoft Word document. Open your existing MS Word resume and click on the Edit button at the top of MS Word. The Edit menu will then open. Find the option called "Select All". Click "Select All". Click the Edit button again. Click the "Copy" option. Now, go back to southeasttexas.com. Right-click once with your mouse pointer hovered on top of the resume box. Click paste within the dropdown menu that appears. At this time, only MS Word resumes may be pasted within the resume box. If your resume is some other format (i.e. Word Perfect), you must retype your resume within the resume box.
Free job ads are staff-approved, Mon-Fri/8-5pm, in the order received. If you have more immediate posting needs, you may do so through our priority ad service. Why wait for approval? Just like Free Ads, Priority Ads remain posted for 30 days and can be edited or replaced with a new ad anytime you wish!
Applicant resumes no longer are sent to your email account. Instead, you are now able to view all applicant resumes directly from your "My Account" home page. On the left hand side of the page, scroll down to JobSeek. There you will find "View Applicants" that contains the complete list of resumes for your job opening.
From your My Account Home Page, you will find a complete ad management system in the left hand column. From there, choose the correct link to accomplish your goal under the applicable heading (Autos, Classifieds, Real Estate, JobSeek, Singles Club).
I have put in several job applications, how do I know that they are being received? You will receive an email stating that your resume has been sent to the employer.
When you copy and paste your resume from MS Word over to our system, you will see paragraph formatting (tabs, indents, margins, line spacing, before and after paragraph spacing, etc). Employers have the ability to view your resume in a printer-friendly format just as it appears in MS Word.
We do not recommend editing the content once you have copied and pasted over to our system because it may alter what the Employer sees. Instead, edit the original document on your computer and re-paste it into the resume box provided.

If you remove one of your pre-paid ads, and that ad still has days available before its expiration, that ad slot will be added back to your pool of available ads, and you may add another ad using this ad slot. Therefore, deleting your ad does not cause you to lose any of your pre-paid ad slots. Example: You purchased 5 ads which expire on October 31. You place 5 ads on the site using 100% of your available ad slots. On October 16, you sell one of the items within the 5 pre-paid ads. You delete the ad (item) that you sold, and regain the use of that one ad slot to advertise another item until it expires on October 31 .

You can save emails to keep track of conversations from interested singles by clicking on the Archive button. However, if for some reason the user's singles profile has been deleted all correspondence is deleted as well.

Camcorder
Once you have filmed an ad on your camcorder, you will need to save the video into a file on your computer. To do this you will need to plug the device into your computer using a USB or Firewire cable and import the video with any video editing program. Many newer digital camcorders come with editing software. If you don't have one, both Windows MovieMaker and Apple's iMovie are easy to use.
Digital Camera
Many digital cameras allow you to take a few minutes of video. This is more than enough for a video classified ad. When you'e finished filming, just connect the camera to your computer with the cable it came with. The camera should also have come with a software cd that handles the transfer. Windows MovieMaker and Apple's iMovie are easy to use.
WebCam
Making a video listing from your webcam is easy because the program you use to capture webcam video should automatically create a file you can upload. With a webcam it's easy to create a listing in one take. Just film your video and save it where you can easily find it.
Cellphone
If you have a video-enabled cell phone, you probably know how to capture clips and send them to others. If your phone supports e-mail, you can send yourself the video file via email. Or if you have a data cable for your phone, you can use the phone's software to transfer the file to your computer. If you have questions about how to move videos off your phone, you can contact your cellular service provider or phone manufacturer for more information.
You must first purchase the option to add a video to your ad. Then, on the Ad Submission page you should see a section called "Upload Photos/Video" (below your contact information) where you can attach a video to your ad. Click on Video, Upload Video, then Browse and locate the video you would like to upload, and click Open. Your file will upload, and you will then click Continue to submit your ad. A video will be rejected from the site if it attempts to offer more than one product or service, includes content not exclusively associated with the content of the ad without our prior, expressed written consent, displays or contains email addresses, web (URL) links or embedded code, violates our general Terms of Use policy, is produced for use on radio, television, newsprint or any other advertising media and does not have our prior, expressed written consent, or contains music tracks or snippets from copyrighted material.
